Sewing Beaded Piping and Binding on the New York Beauty

Today I sewed the beading piping and the binding on the New York Beauty quilt, and now I'm stitching the binding to the back -- hand-stitching, for the first time in a long time, as it would be a little too messy trying to stitch in the ditch next to those beads, and catching a mere 1/32 of an inch of the binding on the back, as I usually do.  I've done about 15 inches, which means there are 453 inches to go.  And then... the pearls.  The 10,000(+/-) pearls.

As usual, Tiger and Teensy sleep through it all in their cozy Thermabeds -- big ol' Tiger in the smaller one, and the smaller Teensy in the bigger one.  I have no idea how they came to this agreement.

  2. Hi, Sarah Lynn - I've been following your progress on this quilt over at Facebook. Your beaded binding puts it over the top! It's so beautiful to start with, and now this amazing touch. I can't wait to see what you do with the pearls.

    1. haha Every now and then I stop what I'm doing and watch them for a moment or two to make sure they're breathing. 😅

And then they, subconsciously sensing the pause, stop breathing momentarily, the better to hear what's happening (or *not* happening, as the case may be).
