Johanna's Strip Quilt, Finished

The purple and green and teal blue strip quilt my 11 ½-year-old friend Johanna put together for her grandma.  The quilt measures 43" x 69.5".  I used teal blue 40-weight Signature thread on top, and dark silver 60-weight Bottom Line thread on the bottom.  The pantograph is called 'Aves'.

Fabric & Quilting Books From A Friend

Monday, an elderly friend invited me to her home to pick up a box of fabric and some quilting books, as she is no longer able to sew.  There are quite a number of charm packs, several pieces of yardage, a bag of 1.5" strips, and two appliqué patterns.  That piece that looks like a ledger sheet is actually fabric.

I really like that little book called 'Inspiring Thoughts for Quilters', but the person who wrote the blurb about Dorcas should've continued reading, and then she wouldn't have had to guess -- for it was only three verses later that it says, "All the widows stood by him (Peter) weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them."   ~ Acts 9:39

It was this Dorcas that we named our daughter Dorcas after. When she was about three years old (she's 38 now), she would find the picture of Dorcas in our big blue Bible Story Book and say, "This is me!"

I'd tell her, "That's Dorcas in the Bible!" and she would smile, look at the picture again, and say, "This is me in the Bible!"

Quilting Johanna's Lavender & Green Quilt

Today I started quilting a lavender and green batik strip quilt, made by a little friend who is 11 ½ years old.  She plans to give it to her grandmother, whose favorite color is purple.  The pantograph is called 'Aves'.  I'm using 60-weight dark silver Bottom Line thread in the bobbin, and 40-weight teal blue Signature thread on top.
