3D Poinsettia Block for Christmas Tree Skirt

Here is block #6 for the Christmas Tree Skirt I started before Christmas.  It's made of moiré taffeta, metallic taffeta, and satin, and is 10" square.  Two more blocks to go!

This was the first 'finish'.  But the more I looked at the picture, the less I liked it.

So I went back downstairs to my sewing room and added some ruching and a few more beads... and here it is in its New and Improved state:

  1. I like the first one. The second go around is even better.

  2. Me, too: I thought it was gorgeous just as it was--until I saw how you'd "fixed" it. Simply gorgeous.

  3. Is this a project you are doing for fun or are there patterns available? They are beautiful.

    1. Thanks for the compliments! :-) I'm making the Christmas tree skirt for our tree for next Christmas. If I don't mention anything about starting it last year, you'll think I'm ahead of time for *next* year, right? ;-)

I'm just making it up as I go along, with the exception of the 'Starlight Diverging' blocks of January 10. I purchased that paper-pieced pattern from Soma Acharya of Whims and Fancies. (See link to post of Jan. 10 in right sidebar.)
