I have just finished Set H. There were 4 blocks in this set.
I didn’t have the paper grid they
tell you to use for the HSTs (Half Square Triangles), so I called our two local
quilt shops to find out about that
‘grid’. Neither had it, though both had
‘spangles’.
One very nice lady told me that she
could order it for me ‘sometime’, and to feel free to bring that pattern in
‘someday’; she’d take a look at it and perhaps she could tell me what it meant
(since one paragraph seemed a bit incomprehensible, on this order:
“Layer the winchet phloxum on the
blonketchy wigmathoink, then plockeau the ronglethug atop the jigadoink. Now blohrette through all thicknesses and
winkblong the goinkblurgy. Connect seven
troogles together at the straitamexus, and make sure it squnches 9 and 27/100
inches. Now you are ready to gingmoy the
royger. (Isn’t this fun, boys and
girls?!”).
Um, well, thanks; but when I’m ready
to sew something, I want to do it yesterday,
thanks again!
So I pulled up my handy-dandy
calculator, figured what size of strips to cut, and then I put strips together
at 90° angles to sew the diagonals. Soon
I had a just-right set of sewn-together HSTs.
