Quilting Maisie's Quilt

I spent a good part of the day quilting Baby Maisie's "You Are Loved" quilt, getting about a third of it done.  I'm trying to keep it soft, and not quilt it too intensely.

Hanging Gardens, EQ8

Here's a quilt, Hanging Gardens, that I just designed in EQ8, and which I plan to make with fabric and clothing given to me by my daughter's sister-in-law, Esther, whose mother Bethany, a very good friend of mine, passed away last August. She had made an untold number of clothing and quilts, and Saturday we sorted through fabric and clothes she had made for Esther when she was little, and Esther gave me enough pieces to fill a large bin. A lot of it is large-print florals. So this is what I will make for her. I'll get started on it as soon as Baby Maisie's quilt is done.

Main Part of the 'You Are Loved' Quilt

The central part of Maisie's 'You Are Loved' quilt is done.  Now for the borders!

Salvation Army Finds

Yesterday when I took some things to the Salvation Army, I had a few minutes to kill before my grocery order was ready at Wal-Mart, so I went on into the store. I found this piece that is obviously part of a nursery ensemble: a strip about 10" wide and... ? oh, maybe a couple of yards long, with appliqués on it. It has several looped tabs. They are sewn down, and do not button or snap. Anybody know what it's for? I plan to cut it into quilt blocks. I also found a large, thick, fleece blanket with little Scotty dogs printed on it. It will be plenty big enough for the backing of a baby quilt -- if I don't just give it away the way it is. It looks and feels like new. Both items were $1.97 each.

Starting Baby Maisie's 'You Are Loved' Quilt

Beginning Baby Maisie's 'You Are Loved' quilt. That's the name of this panel designed by Dawn Rosengren for Henry Glass Fabrics. I have one Ohio star done; 9 more to go.
