Fabric Has Arrived

The fabric for Emma's quilt, along with the duck-scene panel for Ethan's quilt, has arrived! Robert Kaufman fabric is always so nice. I placed this order with Marshall Dry Goods Sunday night. Pretty good shipping times!

Joanna's Jardin de Fleurs

This piece of fabric was found in granddaughter Joanna's other late grandmother Bethany Wright's stash of fabrics.  I am using it as the central panel for Joanna's quilt.  It now measures 46" x 48".

Fabric for Emma, & Ethan's Ducks

Having decided I really did want the fabric I originally liked best for granddaughter Emma's quilt, I accordingly ordered it, and am now waiting on it.  It's Robert Kaufman's 'Softly' line, purchased from Marshall Dry Goods.

I did get all the cream fabric cut -- 216 pieces.

While I'm waiting, I've started on Ethan's quilt.  Ethan is Emma's older brother, the oldest of Teddy and Amy's nine.  Ethan likes ducks.  This vintage piece of fabric that Amy found at a secondhand store is by VIP Cranston Print Works, and it's better quality fabric than most printed panels.  There are 40 squares, with six different duck prints.  I will cut them apart, and put them into a king- or queen-sized quilt.  The squares will measure 8", finished.

Now to import my pictures into EQ8, and start playing!

Sherri's Farm Animals Quilt

All done quilting my friend's Farm Animals quilt. She made it for her new granddaughter, who just happens to be my great-great-niece. The pantograph is called 'Cottontails.'

Fabric for Emma's Quilt

This afternoon I went to Nebraska Quilt Company in Fremont to pick up my Avanté longarm, which was being serviced.  While I was there, I also got the fabric I needed for granddaughter Emma's quilt.

Starting Emma's Quilt

Here's what I'm going to use for granddaughter Emma's quilt.  These blocks will be 17" finished, and I have 18 of them. Just pulling up EQ8 to see what I can come up with.

Daughter-in-law Amy, Emma's mother, found them at a secondhand store somewhere.  They are in groups of two -- that is, each piece of fabric has two of these hand-embroidered blocks.

Nathanael's 'All Creatures Great & Small' Quilt Done

Grandson Nathanael's 'All Creatures Great & Small' quilt is all done.  It measures 95" x 96".  The animal prints and all of the green fabrics were from a quilt Nathanael's other late grandmother Bethany Wright had started but not quite completed.  It was double-sided, so I took it apart and make two quilts from various parts of it -- this one, and the 'Heaven & Nature Sing' quilt for Nathanael's younger brother Levi.

After completing the central section, I imported a photo of it into EQ8 and there designed the rest of the quilt.  The batting is Quilters' Dream Poly Deluxe.  The thread on top is light tan 50-wt. So Fine!, and the bobbin thread is medium gray 60-wt. Bottom Line.  The pantograph is 'Bears, Moose, & Pine Trees', and was quilted on my 18" Handi Quilter Avanté, which is hand-guided.  The label was machine embroidered on my Bernina Artista 730.

The last two pictures are closeups of the binding.  This is fabric Bethany had used on the quilt she was making.  First shot is the front; second is the back.  I put binding on by machine.

Halfway Point

I've passed the halfway point in the quilting of 'All Creatures Great & Small'.
