Last Few Rows of Lace Quilt Finished --

-- but now I will take the quilt off the frame, turn it, and finish a couple of other rows.  I had to save them for later, so I could see them horizontally and thus space the designs the right distance apart.  I think I will need to add a small design between each of the large designs, too.

Past the Middle on the Lace Quilt

Another seven hours of quilting, and I've made it past the middle of my customer's lace quilt.

Almost to the Middle Point of the Lace Quilt

I got about one and a half passes finished today, taking it almost to the middle.

Quilting the Lace Quilt

I've made two more passes with the longarm on my customer's lace quilt.  It took two passes to complete the large design I put together, as the design is 23" square.  I'm having some trouble getting top and back pulled tight enough to avoid puckers and tucks, as the thickness and density of the batting keeps it from stretching at all, while the fabric, which looks a bit like raw linen with some percentage of rayon in it, has more give to it.

There are a few little tucks that I'll fix after the quilt is finished.  Meanwhile, here's what has been accomplished today:

Another lace square along the side

Tiger found a corner to curl up in nearby

Bottom part of the square -- I had to complete the top half and then roll the quilt forward to quilt the bottom half.

The lace along the quilting design is the start of the central section.  You can see the entire quilt before I ironed it and put it on my frame here.

Top Lace Border of Customer's Quilt is Done

The first border of lace on my customer's quilt is quilted.  The lace looks shiny because it is covered with Sulky Solvy (water-soluble stabilizer) to keep the hopping foot on my longarm from getting caught in it.  I'll remove the Solvy when the quilting is finished.

The batting is very thick, and the hopping foot wants to follow the ridges.  I have to press down a bit on the quilt as I'm quilting it, in order to keep everything in place.  This leaves me to guide the machine with only one hand, and that's a bit tricky, what with the thickness of the quilt.  Thus, my quilting is not perfect, but it's more noticeable on the muslin backing.  On the lace itself, it looks quite nice.

Working on the design...

... and the final decision.  I've tried to replicate the design of the lace:
