Linda's 'Daddy's Bow Ties', All Done

My customer's quilt, 'Daddy's Bow Ties', is all done.  She tie-dyed the backing herself.  It measures 67.5" x 85.5".  I used white 40-weight Signature thread on top, and white 60-weight Bottom Line in the bobbin, and did a light custom job whilst a-steppin' over the usual speed bump.

That's Teensy, who likes to sprawl on the rag rug in front of the frame if I'm working from the front.  He naps on the blue and white runner behind the frame if I happen to be following a pantograph and working from the back.  Notice how he presses his tail into use as a blanket.

Tiger, meanwhile, is in his Thermabed under the frame.  When I flipped on the long overhead LED lights, he grunted and covered his eyes with one paw.

Quilting More Bow Ties

Today I quilted another row on my customer's 'Daddy's Bow Ties' quilt.

Since the knots on the large bow ties were a little large to leave unquilted, but didn't want to take out the 3D effect, I put one curl through the middle.  Then it needed a bit of a steam-press.   Can you tell which knots are steam-pressed, and which aren't?

Quilting Linda's 'Daddy's Bow Ties'

I've just started quilting my customer's 'Daddy's Bow Ties' quilt.  Because the knots on the ties are 3D, and even my glide foot wouldn't go over them without getting caught, I decided to give this quilt a simple custom quilting, and my customer concurred.  I can manhandle and/or avoid the knots easily enough from the front, but not from the back while doing a pantograph.  The top two borders are done.

Linda's 'Crazy for Batiks' Quilt Finished

Today I quilted a batik quilt which my customer has named 'Crazy for Batiks'.  It measures 54.5" x 76".  The pantograph is called 'Monstera'.  I used YLI coral variegated 40-weight thread on top, and Bottom Line coral 60-weight thread in the bobbin.

Photo #4 is the view from the north-facing window in my quilting studio.  Photo #5 is the backing; my customer hand-dyed it.

Linda's 'Dreaming in Blue', Finished

This evening I finished my customer's 'Dreaming in Blue' quilt.  It's 97" x 97".  I used Superior pale silvery-blue thread top and bottom, So Fine 50-weight on top, Bottom Line 60-weight in the bobbin.  I call the pantograph 'Butterflies & Leaves'.  It was a line drawing I got free online some time ago, and I added a few connecting curlicues and echoes to turn it into a pantograph.

Photos 3 and 4 were taken when I took my brother his supper yesterday, after which I went to Hy-Vee and picked up the groceries I had ordered (photo 5).  The last two photos show the quilt backing.

The quilt pattern is called 'Child's Play', and is a free download from Sew Can She:
