The 37 Crossed-Canoe blocks are done, and I have begun putting sashing on the cross-stitched blocks. Two are done; ten more to go.

8 Crossed-Canoes
After putting together 8 Crossed-Canoe blocks today, there are 23 finished canoe blocks. That leaves 14 still to make, plus the sashing for the cross-stitched blocks.

Three More Canoe Blocks
I got home late after visiting my brother in Omaha and taking daughter Victoria a birthday gift -- our youngest child is 27 years old! 😲 -- and only had time to make three more blocks. 15 done, 22 more to go.
Ten More Crossed-Canoe Blocks
Ten more Crossed-Canoe blocks are done, making a total of twelve. (As you can see, the cross-stitched blocks will need sashing around them.)

25° Triangles
I've cut 148 'canoe halves' for the Crossed Canoes blocks for Ian's quilt. These are 25° triangles. There are 37 Crossed Canoe blocks, and the 12 cross-stitched blocks.

Cross-Stitched Blocks for Ian's Quilt
These cross-stitched blocks that my daughter-in-law Amy found at a secondhand store will be part of the quilt I am starting for grandson Ian, who will be 8 in three days. Nope, I won't get his quilt, which I am calling "Cross-Stitchin' Gone Fishin'", done for his birthday. This is Sam (usually 'Overall Sam', but he's not in overalls here!), Sunbonnet Sue's counterpart.

My Friend's Quilt, Finished
Late this afternoon I finished quilting my friend's quilt. It measures 103" x 104". She supplied the batting, which is a thin, soft, and luxurious cotton. I used medium pink Mettler 50-wt. polyester thread on top, and medium pink Aurifil 50-wt. cotton thread in the bobbin. The pantograph is an intense and detailed one called 'Bouquet', by Hermione Agee. It's 11" wide, and took 33 minutes and 33 seconds for one pass across this quilt. My machine is an 18" Handi Quilter Avanté, and is hand-guided, as opposed to computer-driven. The backing is white.

Quilting My Friend's Quilt... Nearly Done

Working on a Friend's Quilt
I've been working on a friend's quilt for the last couple of days. The pantograph is called 'Bouquet', by Hermione Agee.
This is an intense pantograph. It's 11" wide, and takes about 33 minutes for one pass across the quilt. It's looking especially pretty on the white back, where it's more noticeable, as I'm using 50-wt. Aurifil in a medium pink color. There's slightly darker pink on top, also 50-wt., but Mettler. The Aurifil is 100% cotton; the Mettler is 100% polyester. I would've used all Mettler, but they only had one cone of thread, and it only has about 2,750 yards of thread on it. I didn't think that would be enough for a 103" x 104" quilt, especially with this particularly panto. So I hunted for another kind of thread in the correct color -- and had to buy the somewhat small Aurifil spools, which have about 1,300 yards on them. I got three.
You want to know how much that thread cost?! $63!!! I sure hope I don't have to use it all.
