This afternoon I've been working on quilt designs for the Buoyant Blossoms BOM. I used Electric Quilt 7 for these designs, importing my own photos into the program for the first time. I was pleased with how nifty it worked.
Layout for 45 ½" x 45 ½" Wall Hanging:
You will need about 2 ½ yards of background fabric. For the rest... I just used bits and pieces of leftover fabric from other projects. If you want it to look realistic, use batiks or mottled fabrics.
One more flower block... and then we'll do something different. ;-)
If you intend to make this a lap quilt, you might like to turn the blocks to face outwards so it will be right side up no matter which way it is used.
I will design enough blocks for a personal throw... a twin-sized quilt... and a full-sized/queen-sized quilt. There will be a medallion of some sort in the center of each of these quilts.
According to EQ7:
For the personal throw (54 ½" x 72 ½"), you will need about 4 ½ yards of background fabric.
For the twin (72 ½" x 99 ½"), you will need about 7 ½ yards of background fabric.
For the full-queen (90 ½" x 99 ½"), you will need about 9 ½ yards of background fabric.
Here is a tentative idea for the personal throw (subject to change at my whim):
And this, for the twin-sized quilt:
The full-queen:
