Tonight I finished my customer's flannel French Braid and got the next one loaded on my frame.

Today I got the roses appliqués stitched down.

Roses Appliqué

Today I drew another flower appliqué pattern -- roses, this time.  It's all put together now, but only glued.  I will stitch it down next week, using contrasting thread to better define the petals.  A link to this entire BOM, 'Buoyant Blossoms', is in the page tabs, just under the header and the Pinterest widget.

Long Pine Cabin Wall Hanging Complete

I finished quilting the Long Pine Cabin wall hanging earlier this evening, and sewed the binding on tonight.  Then I attached one of my new labels, and it was done.  Finished size is 15.5" x 26.5", not including the tabs.  We hope to take it to the people at Long Pine, Nebraska, next weekend.

The porch light is a little pear-shaped, flat-backed cabochon, glued on with Jewel-It.

The flash of my camera must be disturbing Tabby; he wrapped his paw over his eyes.

Long Pine Cabin Wall Hanging, Ready for Appliquéing

The Long Pine Cabin wall hanging is just about ready to appliqué.  I may move a few things around a wee bit first; then I'll glue everything down and stitch it.  I'll use pigma pens on the decôr on the front of the cabin to make it look like the cabin we stayed in.

Yesterday I went to our local quilt shop, Sew What, to get fabric for this wall hanging.  Since it is the month of my birthday, I got 20% off.  With these, I will make the cabin, grass, trees, and sky.

Designing Long Pine Cabin Wall Hanging

A couple of weeks ago, we stayed in a lovely little cabin near Long Pine, Nebraska.  It was tucked into tall trees on a steep hillside, and birds and squirrels and deer abounded.

The people who own the cabin generously let us use their fishing rods, and on the second day they let us stay throughout the day without charging us for an extra day.

Thinking I should do something to show our appreciation, I've been designing a wall hanging for them.  Using Electric Quilt 7 and Paintshop Photo Pro together, here's what I have so far; this is the bottom two-thirds of the hanging:

The top third will be the tops of the trees.  The cabin pictured is the very one we stayed in:

I've printed the perspective-skewed log cabin pattern on newsprint, and am paper-piecing the blocks.  Some of the ‘logs' are only 3/16" wide; paper-piecing will ensure getting them together accurately.  I made a trip to Hobby Lobby for grass-printed and pebble-printed fabric.  With these, I'll blend the triangular areas at the top of the log cabin blocks with the area at the base of the cabin.

I wanted tree prints, cloud/sky prints, and wood prints, too, but they didn't have any.  I'll check with our LQSs Monday.
