Quilting on Venice Lace

Monday night, Larry installed the glide foot on my Avanté.  He had to first put on a conversion kit, as my machine is older, and the feet attached differently.

Today I loaded first the New York Beauty pillow shams and gave it a try, quilting atop the Venice lace.  The glide foot worked perfectly.  Exactly what I needed!

Upon finishing the shams, I trimmed them, then loaded the quilt itself.

Four of six rows are now done... and it's time to get ready for church!  Perhaps tomorrow I can get the beaded piping and the binding sewn on.  And then... I'll start sewing the pearls onto the lace.  All 10,000 of them.  😵

The first shot shows the back of one of the shams; it's hard to see the stitching on the lace from the front.  Also included are a few photos from my yard.

Plugging Along on the Beaded Piping

One and a third yards of beaded piping are done... and I'm getting a teeny leeto (Lydia's word, age 1) bit faster as I go.

Beaded Piping for New York Beauty

I've started on the piping for the New York Beauty quilt.  I need 20 yards for the quilt and the pillow shams.  I bought a roll of strung beads that are 24... feet.  I need two more rolls of beads!

Teensy thinks this pile of binding and piping is just for him to nap in.

Finished Quilting the New York Beauty, and Loading the Shams

The last row of quilting finished on the New York Beauty quilt, I trimmed it and removed it from the frame.  Then I pieced together the backing for the king-sized pillow shams (I didn't have any big enough whole pieces for the shams) and loaded them on the quilting frame.

After the shams are quilted, I'll work on a fancy-schmancy edging and binding.  And when that's done, there are a gazillion pearls to sew on the lace.

Three-Quarters Done Quilting Last Border, New York Beauty

I'm about three-quarters done quilting the final border.  The white triangles will go faster than the cream ones.  My furry little friends keep me company under the quilting frame.

There's certainly not much batting left over!
