Quilting Hexies on the Atlantic Beach Path Quilt

Gotta be careful of the speed bump, as I'm walking back and forth in front of my quilting frame!

First Row of Hexies, Atlantic Beach Path Quilt

The top row of hexagons is about half quilted on the Atlantic Beach path quilt.  The hexies measure 5" from straight side to opposite straight side. (How are you supposed to measure hexies? Straight to straight, or point to point??)

Top Borders Are Quilting, Atlantic Beach Path Quilt

The final top border before getting to the hexagons is done, and I've started on the hexagon kaleidoscopes. This is going to be fun! After stitching in the ditch around each hexagon in the row, I'll switch to the glide foot in order to quilt inside each hexagon, as that foot does just as it's name implies -- it glides easily over the thick seams in the middle of each block.

Four of the top seven borders are done.  It always takes longer when I first start custom quilting, as I decide on quilting designs.  After all, once I've invested half a day in a design for a certain part of a quilt, I'm pretty well locked in and invested in that design, unless I want to spend days and days removing the stitching I decided I don't like.  Once I'm committed to a design, the quilting generally speeds up.  At least, let's hope so!  😉

Each tuck is twisted, and it's ironed so that the point of twist creates multiple S-shapes along the border. When the quilting is finished, I will sew a pearl at each point of twist.
