Two Tall Stars, & My Quilting Studio

Two of the four 6" Tall Stars are done, other than removing the paper from the backs of them.

My quilting studio:

The longarm tech came all the way from Fremont to fix my Avanté yesterday, and had it fixed in 15 minutes flat.  Maybe less.

I'm using my Bernina Artista 180 while the Artista 730 is being serviced.  I sure hope it gets fixed soon (and that it can be fixed!), as I need it for embroidering.  It's so much nicer to embroider with the 730 than the 180.

There are the star blocks for the 'Considering the Heavens' quilt, spread out on the quilting table.

Hester took the picture there in Rocky Mountain National Park, and had it printed on canvas.  It was the perfect touch for the nook where we put the maple table.

My Bernina serger is on the desk on the far right.  You can't see it, as it has a cover on it.

This window looks east; the other in the dormer looks north.

Sara's Star & Variation

The last two ten-inch blocks are done for the 'Consider the Heavens' quilt, making a total of ten.  Next, ten six-inch blocks.  These two are called 'Sara's Star' and 'Sara's Star Variation', both from EQ8.

Vintage Airplanes Quilt

The Vintage Airplanes quilt is all finished except for the label, and that will have to wait until I get my Bernina Artista 730 back from the tech.  Hopefully, the tune-up and repair will not take too long (or cost too much).

This quilt measures 73" x 84".  I designed it in EQ8.  The airplanes are cut from a panel called 'Flying High', by Dan Morris for QT Fabrics.  I used Omni light charcoal 40-wt. thread on top, and Bottom Line red 60-wt. thread in the bobbin.  The batting is Quilters' Dream wool.  The pantograph is called 'Air Show', by Judy Lyon.

The quilting was done on an 18" Handi Quilter Avanté on a 12' Studio frame.  My machine is hand-guided, not computer-driven.  The binding is sewn on entirely by machine.

This quilt is for grandson Justin, age 12.
