Nine Kittens Quilt, Finished

 The Nine Kittens quilt is finished.  The quilt measures 86" x 86".  My daughter-in-law Amy found the printed blocks, along with nine puppy prints that I used in the Nine Puppies quilt in January.  They were all sewn together into one long, skinny strip, three blocks by six blocks.  I took them apart and incorporated them into these two quilts, which I designed in EQ8.  The prints must be quite vintage, as I have hunted for them online and found nothing similar.

The batting is Quilters' Dream wool.  I used 40-wt. white Omni thread on top and 60-wt. cream Bottom Line thread in the bobbin.  I used a combination of rulerwork and free-motion.  My 18" Handi Quilter Avanté is hand-guided, not computerized.

I sew bindings on entirely by machine.  This is what the stitches look like on the back.

Binding and Label Done, Nine Kittens

I finished the binding for the Nine Kitten quilt yesterday, and machine-embroidered the label and attached it today.  I put bindings on entirely by machine.

 

Fabric for Chihuahua Quilt

 New fabric just purchased at my favorite LQS (Local Quilt Shop), Sew What, to coordinate with the Chihuahua fabrics I got a month or so ago. The shop is owned by a lady with whom I went to school, many years ago. She was a nice girl then, and is a lovely lady now. Plus, she has pretty -- and top quality -- fabrics! 😊 I'm just putting the binding on Nine Kittens, and will start the Chihuahua quilt after I make the Kittens label.

Quilting Done on Nine Kittens Quilt

 The quilting is finished on the Nine Kittens quilt, and I've trimmed it from the frame.  The last pictures show the backing.  If I have time after I get home from visiting Loren tomorrow, I'll put the binding on.  Next, the label -- but that'll have to wait until next week.  I'll give all the details about the quilt with the final pictures.

 Today I finished quilting the last three kitten blocks.  I rolled the quilt forward -- and there was the bottom border!  Maybe... maybe... I can get it finished tomorrow.  There are still many hours of quilting ahead.
