I'm finished with the old quilt. I repaired as many tears and frays as I could.

Repairing and Rebinding a 65-Year-Old Quilt
Well, repairing this old quilt for a friend of ours is... uh, ... 'thought-provoking', shall we say. 😂 The batting(?) has evidently shrunk more than the fabric, but the tied yarn has held everything in place, causing pleats to form from one yarn knot to the next. It's not at all an unpleasant effect, but it does make me scratch my head a bit as to just how to deal with it. I guess I'll just try my best to sew a wide binding on nice and flat, and let the chips fall where they may.

Pooh's 'Days of Hunny' Quilt Done
Our new baby grandson Arnold's quilt, Pooh's 'Days of Hunny', is all done.
I found this piece in a bin of fabric my late sister-in-law gave me in 2013, a few months before she passed away. It's called Pooh's 'Days of Hunny', for Disney by Springs Industries. I quilted around the animals and the squares to make it looked pieced and appliquéd, but it isn't; it's a solid piece of fabric.
In the same bin, I found the white with green stripes that I used for the backing, and the solid blue that makes half of the Prairie Point edge. The striped fabric I used for the other half of the Prairie Points is from a work shirt of Larry's that he tore beyond repair on the first day he wore it; so, since it wasn't stained, I cut the seams out and put it with my fabric.
It seemed like the perfect time to use a fabric that was once a shirt of Larry's, since Baby Arnold was given Larry's middle name!
The quilt measures 44" x 45". The batting is Hobbs Heirloom 80/20. I used Signature Blue Ice 40-wt. cotton thread on top, and Bottom Line White Lace 60-wt poly thread in the bobbin.

Winnie-the-Pooh Quilt
Amongst my late sister-in-law Janice's fabrics, I found a few prints suitable for baby quilts. I chose a Winnie-the-Pooh print for a whole-cloth quilt for Baby Arnold. It measures 44" x 45". I will outline the animals and stitch between all the little squares, in order to make it look like I went to a whole lot of work piecing and appliquéing. 😉
Nine Puppies Quilt & Pillow Finished
The Nine Puppies quilt and pillow for grandson Trevor are done. I will give it to him for his 8th birthday, which is February 26.
The quilt measures 76.5" x 76.5". I sewed together a whole lot of scraps of 80/20 (poly/cotton) for the batting. There is 40-weight Blue Ice Omni thread on top, and 60-weight Cream Bottom Line in the bobbin.
The pantograph is 'Half Pint' by Patricia E. Ritter & Denise Schillinger.

Nine Puppies on Frame
Today I put together the backing (last picture) for the Nine Puppies quilt, added a few more inches of batting to the Frankenbatting { 😂 } I'd already sewed together, and loaded everything on my frame. I aligned and taped the pantograph to the table, dropped the needle in, pulled up the thread... and quit for the night. Everything is ready to begin quilting tomorrow.

Nine Puppies Flimsy Done
The Nine Puppies flimsy (unquilted quilt top) for Trevor is all done. (It's 76½" x 76½", and doesn't quite fit on that floor.) Now to put together a backing, and then quilt it. The blocks for the pillow are done, too.

All 40 Log Cabin Blocks
All 40 Log Cabin blocks are done for Trevor's Nine Puppies quilt. Tomorrow I will make the two blocks for the pillow, and then I will start sewing these blocks together.
